Ocean Dragon Chinese Restaurant in Waterman

Rarely do you find such a good view from a Chinese Restaurant. This place is located above the Fig Cafe and across the road from the beach, and from the second story window there are great views along the coast. Make sure you come early enough to take advantage of the great views. There is a large selection on the menu, the food is pretty good for Chinese, and the prices reasonable too.

Siena’s of Leederville Review

Siena’s Pizzaria, Restorante, Caffe – Leederville

It may be authentic Italian, but certainly not inspiring. The Siena’s of Leederville restaurant has been serving authentic Italian food for a long time in Leederville. It is located on the main strip, and can be very popular, particularly on the specials nights (Mon-Wed) where most pasta dishes and pizza is $12. You are advised to pre-book on these nights. Another great thing about this restaurant is the children’s play area, located inside the restaurant with a big glass window so you can keep a good eye on the kids while you enjoy your meal.

Joondalup Resort Bistro 38

Joondalup Resort Restaurant, Connolly

We have dined at just one of several dining opportunities at the Joondalup Resort, Bistro 38. They have a buffet in the evenings on the weekends, but it is the daily breakfast buffet that we made the most of. There was the usual quality breakfast buffet selections, and it is possible to enjoy it outside near the pool.

Indiana Restaurant Review

Indiana Restaurant, Cottesloe

Spying on the beach bathers is an added bonus. The Indiana Restaurant is located at Cottesloe Beach, on the beach side overlooking the water. The Indiana was once known as the ‘Indiana Tea House’, the original building dating from 1910. It is a great spot to stop for a coffee or beer, overlooking the bathers on the beach below. The great buffet breakfast (for $30+) even includes smoked salmon. I love a buffet breakfast, and such a draw card will make it stand out among the other places offering much the same thing.

For me this is the best Indian food I have tasted outside of India and Malaysia. The Indian Garden Restaurant in North Perth serves tasty rich Indian food. On weekends they do a buffet which is made freshly and provides a great range of Indian sides, mains and sweets, providing a great way to sample a range of dishes.

Good Thai should not be hard to find, but for some reason in Perth it is. The Royal Thai Restaurant in Mount Hawthorn, just up Oxford St from the main hub of Leederville, opposite the Oxford Hotel. Royal Thai serves excellent quality Thai food, which is not always easy to find in Perth. The husband and wife team David and Tuan provide fantastic authentic Thai cuisine with a warm friendly service.

A casual yet cool dining experience. The Azure Restaurant is located at The Mezz shopping centre, facing onto Scarborough Beach Rd in Mt Hawthorn. It has a bright and breezy feel, with tables and chairs spilling onto the pavement. Owner and chef Christian Fogliani has many years of experience on the international culinary scene. The menu would be described as Modern Australian and Mediterranean. For dessert, there will definitely be something to tempt you from the patisserie counter.

There is something mass-produced about this place, but the menu selection and food quality belies this assumption. There are several Groove Train Restaurants around Melbourne and Brisbane, we have been fortunate to visit the newly opened restaurant in Victoria Harbour Docklands, and also one at Plenty Valley. There is a vast menu selection, featuring wood-fired oven pizzas and Mediterranean and modern Australian-inspired dishes. There is something for everyone, and whichever one you find yourself at, you know you will be getting the same choices and same high quality service and food.

If you are a fan of Thai food like ourselves, this is the only such restaurant in a large radius. Thankfully the food is great. The Epping Thai Restaurant is located on High Street in Epping, serving authentic Thai food. All the usual favourites are here, served with love and care.

Star Hotel Restaurant Review

Star Hotel Cafe and Wine Bar, Echuca VIC

We went here as part of a large group, and they handled the multiple order requests quite well. The food was not extraordinary, but not much more was expected in Echuca. The Star Hotel is located in the historic precinct of Echuca. Facing the river is the old facade of the former Star Hotel (est. 1867), a nice place to stop for a drink as you explore the history of Echuca. This hotel is well known for the special escape route for drinkers that was created so that drinkers could get away during the police raids after it lost its license in 1897.
